Cologne Making

A cologne is a scented liquid made of alcohol and various fragrant oils.

This is also a useful experiment that you can use as your project in school or in a small extra business. A home made cologne in an easy step to learn...


Raw Ingredients Needed

60% Ethyl Alcohol (unscented Necessary)
q.s. Water
2% Glycerin ( as Moisturizer, you can buy at any drugstore)
5-10% Essential Oils or pure oil (you can buy at the supermarket or chemical store)
1% Colorant (water base)
1% Fixative (optional additive for long lasting fragrant)


Materials Needed

Measuring glass (e.g. graduated cylinder or measuring cup)
Stirrer (steel type)
Glass cylinder (e.g. beaker or home glass that is not used for drinking)
PET spray bottles or glass bottle (for finished products)
label (make your own label using paper sticker)


Procedure:

1. Measure & prepare the Alcohol in a glass.
2. Slowly add the fragrant oil with stirring.
3. Add one a time the additives such as glycerin, colorant and fixative.
4. Stand it for 1-2 hours to evaporate the excess scent of alcohol.
5. Ready for re-packing and for distribution.

Note: The scent of the cologne will last if you store it in a cool place such as refrigerator or in an aircon room...Happy working...

Fabric Conditioner

Fabric Conditioner

Fabric conditioner of course is a conditioner for fabric! This was my first ever formulation learned...when i joined in a personal care industry...you can do this at home..and it can be a good extra income for those who want to put up a small business at home...

Raw Ingredients Needed

Tap Water
Tallow (from animal fat e.g. mutton fat, pig fat)
Fragrance
Preservative (optional, if you are goin to store it for a long time if ready to use no need to add)
Colorant (optional, you can use water base colorant)

Materials Needed

Pail
Stirrer (steel or wooden type)
Measuring cup
Gallon
Bottles (e.g. mineral bottles for finished products)


Procedure:

1. Heat 1 gal of tap water at least 40 degrees.
2. Dissolve completely 1/2 cup of tallow for 30 mins.
3. Add desired amount of fragrance and preferred scent.
4. Add desired colorant.
5. Add 1ml of preservative if needed.

Note: You can store it overnight for completely dissolved of tallow. Then put it in your desired PET bottles and ready to distribute.
